Edible Business Cards

Business cards are an incredibly useful way to efficiently get the word out about your business in person. Simply hand someone your company card and you are good to go – networking accomplished! These are also used for posting to bulletin boards and even dropping into fishbowls to try and win free lunches! Usually business cards are made out of a durable card stock or slightly lighter paper with a design on the front and/or back.

Sometimes, more specialized business cards are made out of gold or metal, for that added interest and value to the consumer. But what if you could eat your own business cards?

According to an article on Walyou, that is precisely what The Bombay Bakery out of India is doing. They have been making imprinted cookie/wafer/cracker business cards with their name and phone number on them. Even better, they come in several different flavors!

Apparently, the article also says that the idea of edible business cards is nothing new, with other companies making them out of nuts and beef jerky. I find it hard to believe that anyone would eat random beef jerky that was handed to them by a stranger for free.

I’m not sure how a company would make a business card out of nuts, but I would probably eat one of those if I was given one. Edible business cards are an innovative, if not strange, way of promoting a product, particularly if you run a company that makes food.

All in all, I can’t decide if edible business cards are a good idea or not. On the one hand you promote your business while giving the potential customer something to nibble on. On the other hand, they are eating all of your information! What do you think? Would you ever put your business card on beef jerky or a cookie?
